Police Lieutenant Girasak from Banglamung Police Station was called to a house at the Maerkmai Village 2 in Banglamung on Tuesday Morning after reports of a suicide occurring at the house were received. Police and rescue workers arrived and were met by the Husband of the deceased, Mr. Jesper Semitjow aged 44 from Sweden who discovered the body of his Wife, Khun Por_nsilee aged 32 in the bathroom when he awoke. She had apparently hung herself from the top of the shower unit. Mr. Semitjow removed his Wife’s body from the noose but realized she had passed away some hours before.

He explained to us that his Wife would often make trips to the Casino’s in Poi Pet in Cambodia and had accumulated large debts which she was unable to pay back to unlicensed money lenders who had been pressurizing her to repay the money. Police inspected the body and house and found nothing untoward; however they are continuing to question Mr. Semitjow at this time before they close the case.

Attend an illegal street racing event on a discussed stretch of road on Highway 7

News Published on 2007-08-07 08:51:12

One of our journalists went undercover over the weekend and joined an illegal street racing event which took place at a disused stretch of road located at the Highway 36 slip road on Highway 7 which leads to Bangkok. Our journalist was able to befriend a group who explained to us that they would often use this stretch of road to race their modified motorbikes. The group are clearly not afraid of the Police and were happy to show off their modified bikes to us in broad daylight.

The group members would often gamble on the outcome of time trials. Eventually Banglamung Police arrived and arrested one of the bike riders whose vehicle was impounded.

The group laughed off the Police presence and vowed to return to the location later this week to continue their illegal race meetings.

PATTAYA HIGH-RISE PROTESTERS PREVAIL IN COURT

News Published on 2007-08-04 08:23:13

The Bangkok Supreme Administrative Court has given residents of the Jomthien Complex Condotel an important victory in their efforts to stop construction of a high-rise condominium on Jomthien beach. Residents say the construction would block their sea view and violates a Interior Ministry regulation. The 1.15-billion-baht View Talay Jomthien Project 7 would soar 27 storeys or some 81 meters. At present, the project is only at the foundation stage.

In making its decision, the Court sided with an April ruling by the Administrative Court in Rayong. A final hearing on the dispute is slated for next Wednesday, August 8, in the Rayong court.

Residents of Jomtien Complex say that they now enjoy "real magnificent sea views." One resident expressed being "pissed off" over the possible loss of view as well as property value. Many residents say they have considered moving, fearing that they will lose millions of Baht in property value. They say that the new projection should never have started in the first place...more
